Korey Wahwassuck is a Minnesota district court judge serving the Ninth Judicial District in Itasca County. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Mark Dayton in April 2013 and subsequently re-elected. Judge Wahwassuck earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a J.D. from the University of Missouri. Prior to her appointment, she served as an associate judge for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Court, worked as a tribal attorney for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, and practiced law privately in Missouri and Kansas. She also co-founded the Leech Lake–Cass County–Itasca County Wellness Courts and has taught as an adjunct instructor at Leech Lake Tribal College.
